SCIENCE FILMS
We work with academics and universities to promote and explain your research and departments.
We’ve made dozens of films for universities about research, as well as facilities, courses, and open days. We understand the academic sector as well as the needs of UK Research and Innovation to promote Impact and Knowledge Exchange. Our films have been made as collaborations between universities, Research Councils and industrial partners.
THE KINDS OF FILM WE MAKE
Departmental overviews
Research project summaries - highlighting impacts and findings
Open days
Recruitment for PhD students
Calls for collaboration with industry
Public/policy/funder information
Facilities tours
SUSTAINABLE GAS INSTITUTE
Imperial College’s Sustainable Gas Institute is a global leading facility for research into sustainable gas extraction, transport and use.
The Institute’s experts are helping to shape policy and pathways to a more sustainable, lower carbon future.
HEALTHY HOUSING FOR THE DISPLACED
Syrian refugees living at Azraq refugee camp in Jordan endure extremely hot summers and freezing winters. The Healthy Housing For The Displaced project uses engineering research to make simple changes to the shelters given to refugees to make the temperatures inside the shelters more comfortable to live in. This University of Bath and UNHCR project is improving the living standards of thousands of refugees and saving lives.
OXFORD UNIVERSITY’S GLOBAL JET WATCH
The Global Jet Watch study has five telescopes around the world gathering astrophysics data. The telescopes are located in schools giving young students the opportunity to be involved in world class research and encouraging a love of science.
Professor Katherine Blundell OBE introduces us to her revolutionary astrophysics research.
BUILDING BETTER BRAIN SCANNERS
Not all hospitals can offer every kind of brain scan that patients need. Scanners require a database of what a normal brain looks like, but scanning healthy patients to acquire this database raises ethical problems.
Researchers from the University of bath and RUH hospital devised a clever method for transferring health brain data from one kind of scanner to another using artificial ‘ghost’ brains.
FATHERS FRIDAY
Fathers Friday is a day when fathers and significant males can attend school with their children to engage more with their learning.
Researchers at the university of Bath have shown that engagement of these fathers, grandfather, uncles and others in the children’s learning can significantly improve their performance in school.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Researchers study how Quality of Life is measured across the world.
Quality of Life is important to everyone, but getting a precise meaning and understanding of it is difficult. Culture plays a big part in how people see thrown quality of life, but many commonalities also occur. Mental health, independence, mobility and sexuality are all important factors in quality of Life. Professor Susie Skevington discusses her research in this film for the University of Bath.
DEATH AND SOCIETY
The Centre for Death and Society at the University of Bath is a multidisciplinary research centre, unique in scope and breadth of research around death and dying.
We made a video promoting their research to help them reach new collaborators and generate interest in their research among members of the public.
