We work with healthcare providers to promote and explain what they do. We have made over 100 films for the NHS, including: West of England Academic Health Science Network, National Institute for Health Research, Clinical Research Network, CLARHC, University Hospitals Bristol, Royal United Hospitals Bath, Oxford Biomedical Research Centre, Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.

THE POWER OF FILM

Video can transform how people learn about their health, and our clients tell us that their patients are increasingly seeking out their information in this way. By co-creating films with healthcare professionals and health communicators, we are ensuring people have access to reliable and accurate information in the format that they want.

I think filmmaking is really important in sharing people’s stories. I do a lot of work with people who are suffering, particularly with their mental health, their life circumstances, and I think hearing other people’s stories can really trigger healing in people. It can make a huge difference. And there’s something about the way people can tell stories on film. I think that’s very, very powerful.

RESEARCH / PATIENT PARTICIPATION VIDEO

Joining dementia research

The Dementia Health Integration Team in Bristol wanted to raise awareness of dementia research in the South-west and engage more people to take part in dementia research. PATIENT SERVICES VIDEO

YP Face IT is an online intervention to help young people with appearance related anxiety. This eight week course was designed by UWE’s Centre for Appearance Research (CAR). We produced a video to let GPs know they can prescribe YP Face IT to young people. The video was correlated with young people who had finished the course.

CLINICAL AUDIT SUMMARY VIDEO

Just say sepsis!

The National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) published their clinical audit of Sepsis care in the UK.

We produced a video summary of the findings of the report intended to reach a much wider audience than the written report, including: Chief executives of NHS Trusts, members of the public and patient groups.

Four years ago, we made a film about the PReCePT project, and this film has been absolutely key in communicating key aspects of the project to both the public and also funders and researchers and clinicians.

What this film achieved for us is that it actually won hearts. When you’re producing evidence in the form of papers in journals and posters, what doesn’t come across is the emotions and the patients. It was absolutely key in helping us fund PReCePT going forward at a national level.
